Lhuentse Experience

Lhuentse - Ancestral Home of Wangchuck's Dynasty

Lhuentse Valley is the ancestral home of our Monarchs and the present Chief Abbot, thus making it one of the most important districts in Bhutan. It is about 3 hours drive from Mongar along the riverside and through rural settlements. The valley is home to several holy places blessed by Guru Padmasambhava in the 8th century. Lhuentse falls under the jurisdiction of three major national parks in the country; Wangchuck Centennial Park in the north, Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary in the east and Thrumshingla National Park in the South, all connected through a network of biological corridors. The most popular village in the region is Khoma with their distinctive art of weaving a textile known as Kishuthara sold at a premium price.
