Tang is a remote village located about an hour’s drive from the main Bumthang town and an excursion of the valley is an interesting off the beaten path experience. Though not much in terms of tourist attractions or monuments per se, however the picturesque landscape and interactions with the smiling farmers make the trip worth the while. The valley comprises of scattered traditional houses, a school, local temples and fields of wheat, barley, buckwheat, and potatoes that dot the landscape with different colors depending on the season. There are many rough walking trails along the valley and a picnic by the riverside is recommended as an additional outdoors activity. Places of spiritual and religious significance are the Membar Tsho/Burning Lake, Ta Rimochen Lhakhang/temple, hike to Thowa Drak Hermitage and visit to the UgyenCholing Palace turned Museum with food and lodge; and an opportunity for horse riding in the valley.
