The Top Restaurants in Eastern Bhutan
Bhutan has the most organic food...
Chilli is the taste of Bhutan and Bhutanese cuisine is considered very spicy, but spicy here only means the chilies and not the spice and condiments at all, though these are also used. There are different shapes, sizes, colors and varying degrees of 'hot' chilies in Bhutan and no dish is complete with chili in its varied form. Some of the chili varieties measure significantly high on the Scoville Heat Unit. Unofficially the ema datse a curry/stew of chili and cheese is considered the national dish of Bhutan!
Besides the chilies and local cheese, rice is the staple food along with vegetables and the usual chicken, beef, pork, mutton and the occasional yak meat which is considered exotic and thus not readily available.
